They are looking for a creative individual with design flair, to provide design lead on landscape projects, providing a client-facing role with the ability to respond to a brief and project needs, utilising effective communication skills with strong presentation techniques. The role will include:

• Leading the design process working on a range of landscape and urban design projects
• Manage and programme other design team members to deliver key project milestones
• To lead in the concept and front end delivery of projects, including bids for large and complex schemes
• To work within and influence a multi-disciplinary design team, as well as providing guidance and leadership within the team
• Ability to work under own initiative and run key projects from inception to completion.

Essential Criteria:

• Excellent design and presentation skills
• Ability and confidence to communicate design ideas an philosophies to clients / end users
• Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, organisation and an aptitude to lead team members and delegate work
• Good report and technical writing skills
• Conduct site surveys and assessment from outline designs to preparing full detailed technical drawings
• Preparation of technical specifications and supporting contract documentation
• Carry out necessary site visits during construction
• Attend and run meetings where appropriate
• Administer Construction Contracts
• Assist in the business development and generation of new opportunities
• Prepare and contribute to promotional and marketing material

Our client is one of the country's leading and largest Landscape consultancies. They are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic senior qualified Landscape Architect. The position is based in their Belfast office with the opportunity to work within their network of UK offices.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a growing team in Belfast and will report to the Principal Landscape Architect in Glasgow.  The candidate will be responsible for delivering public realm and masterplanning projects as well as managing EIA and undertaking landscape and visual assessments for large-scale infrastructure work.  The candidate will be responsible for client liaison and negotiations as well as tendering and marketing. 

Experience & Qualifications required:

• Relevant work experience gained in either a consultancy or local authority environment within Northern Ireland
• Appropriate amount of experience in delivery of urban design projects including feasibility studies, concepts and large masterplanning projects such as urban extensions and large scale urban regeneration schemes
• Experience in co-ordination of EIAs as well as carrying out landscape and visual assessments
• Experience of public realm and neighbourhood renewal an advantage
• Highly motivated and able to work both in multi-disciplinary teams or on own initiative
• Ability to express ideas quickly via hand drawing a priority
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Competent in AutoCAD and Photoshop or similar graphics packages
• Current driving licence (essential)
• Degree in Landscape Architecture
• MLI (or equivalent), MIEMA an advantage

Successful applicants will take considerable responsibility for co-ordinating multi-disciplinary teams working with leading retailers, developers and investment institutions as well as local planning authorities. Ideal candidates will have the following skills and experience;

• MRTPI and/or MRICS planning and development qualified with consultancy experience. At least 5 years’ post MRTPI experience is preferred, with at least 2 years in the private sector
• Able to demonstrate excellent communication, written and analytical skills
• Able to manage a demanding and stimulating workload
• Experienced in town centre development and different types of retail development, with a thorough understanding of retail policy issues and quantitative analysis.
• A proven ability to identify and win new business would be an advantage.
