The purpose of the role is to provide support and focus for projects in the energy and carbon management sector. The Senior Consultant will play an active part in helping to further grow this establishing sector and enhance the carbon product potential of the marketplace.

You will be responsible for delivering new business primarily in the carbon and energy sectors however projects will not be limited to these areas and will include waste and resource efficiency projects. The current client portfolio is varied and the successful candidate will be required to work on a number of projects, covering both the public and private sectors. Project work will primarily focus on the Republic of Ireland however they may also extend to projects in Northern Ireland and across the UK.

Key responsibilities:

• Delivering carbon and energy efficiency solutions to a variety of clients
• Analyse and interpret energy and carbon data
• Conducting energy audits and carbon data collection
• Support the team in developing new business and writing proposals
• Offer and deliver technical solutions to meet the business and client expectations
• Act as a technical lead on a range of projects and proposals and communicate complex issues to colleagues and clients
• Responsible for the technical work of less experienced consultants
• Managing projects including costs, performance and spend against budget, quality, deadlines, delivery of reports, presentations and other deliverables
• Review the progress of the project on a regular basis and take responsibility for delivery to client needs
• Resolve technical and financial queries through consultation with project managers and technical managers where appropriate

• Support the Commercial Director to further develop the energy market in Ireland, providing technical and business development support as necessary

Experience, skills & qualifications sought:

• Applicants will have preferably been operating within a consultancy environment for a minimum of 5 years, although candidates from a process or building design engineering background who think they can adapt their knowledge to a consultancy environment will be considered
• Some relevant experience of energy management, either in an industrial or commercial environment, is required. This may be in the following areas; energy management, carbon management, climate change policy
• Applicants are likely to be educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant subject. (ie. science subjects, geography, engineering etc); and this will preferably be complimented with an MSc (or equivalent).
• A good understanding of climate change issues and the mitigation measures that businesses can implement to reducing energy use and carbon emissions
• Economic and carbon policy/regulation experience desirable
• A sound technical background in the energy and carbon management sector, this will ideally be complimented with knowledge and experience in other technical areas including waste and resource efficiency
• A good level of climate/carbon policy and regulation knowledge is required

As Principal / Associate Director within the Planning and Environmental Group the new appointee will work within an exceptionally strong team of existing planning and environmental specialists. The current client base is predominantly interested in wind projects and the experience of the team reflects this, however the Group is already diversifying into energy from waste and energy storage projects.
